Kganyo, meaning “light” in Sesotho, is a contemporary reimagining of our 2017 Ndebele Collection’s Khanyi Light. Rooted in cultural reference and refined through evolution, the piece translates heritage into a sharper, more architectural expression.
Upholstered in patterned polyester linen, the form brings together soft materiality and bold geometry inspired by Ndebele visual language. The silhouette takes shape as a custom designed rectangular pyramid, giving the lamp a grounded yet directional presence. A brass detail on the upright introduces warmth and refinement, elevating the structure with a subtle metallic accent that catches and reflects light.
Both sculptural and functional, Kganyo balances texture, form and proportion. It stands as an object of illumination and as a crafted artefact, carrying forward narrative, material exploration and contemporary African design language.
